In collaboration with a leading building materials retailer operating across the DACH region, we conducted a simulation to optimize the energy efficiency of two of their branches. Using the advanced Energy PRO software by EMD International, we visualized, analyzed, and compared various energy supply concepts.
As a result, we installed 950 kWp photovoltaic systems on the carports to harness solar energy, generate electricity, and power the entire building. A particularly innovative feature of our approach is the excess energy – it is converted into sustainable hydrogen through an electrolysis system. This hydrogen can be stored, converted back into electricity when needed, or alternatively used for combustion to support the building’s heat supply.
Successfully tested through simulations, our innovative solution significantly reduces the external demand for electricity or gas. This concept can easily be adapted to other energy generation systems, such as heat pumps or solar installations.
